Where to have a girls night out in Auckland

05/12/2024

It’s getting late, but the party has only just started. There's just something so healing about treating yourself with a cocktail or two over ceviche and pasta while laughing with your closest crowd. After all, nothing beats a girls night out.

We take outings like this very seriously. Whether you and your girls want to bar hop or linger at a place for hours, Auckland’s heart of the city is the perfect place.

To us, the perfect night out consists of amazing food and drinks, plus comfortable seating and an aesthetic interior (for the pictures of course). Compiled in this article is a list of establishments that we believe to have fulfilled all of these requirements.

Cheers to that!

  • Bossi

    Auckland CBD, Auckland, North Island

Just a stone’s throw from Takutai Square in Britomart, Bossi brings the Italian flavour to a new level. The restaurant’s lively atmosphere is only further accentuated by an open kitchen and interactive staff. Whether you want to banter with the waiter at the bar or tuck yourselves in a booth, this is certainly a city hotspot for good reason. With a premium wine list, fresh ingredients and authentic flavours, this spot is definitely a must-visit.

  • Hello Beasty

    Auckland CBD, Auckland, North Island

Chef Stuart Rogen’s extensive travels and long history with the art of cooking have resulted in the creation of Hello Beasty. The flavour profile consists of an array of Asian fusion elements, most notably from Korea, Japan and China. One of the strengths of this establishment is its accessible menu, featuring both a vegetarian and gluten-free selection of dishes. In this way, you’ll be able to take all of your friends without having to fret over dietary requirements.

  • Hazy Tiger

    Auckland CBD, Auckland, North Island

Enjoy some spicy talk over some spicy food at Hazy Tiger- the new addition to the block. They specialise in Korean-style tapas dishes, ranging from $8-$16. Customers will be greeted by a dimly lit den, perfect for a hushed conversation. For drinks, they’ve got a good selection ranging from soju and cocktails to a simple wine.

  • Little Culprit

    Auckland CBD, Auckland, North Island

Little Culprit is the smaller counterpart to the fully-fledged restaurant, Culprit. This bar’s most defining feature by far is the luminescent purple bar, but beyond that is a deceptively large cave-like area with sequestered booths. When it’s quiet, Little Culprit is the best place for when the night trails off. During the busy hours, it’s a great venue to help yourself to a cocktail over a grazing board or two.

  • Lucky 8

    Ponsonby, Auckland, North Island

Smack dab in the centre of Ponsonby Road, Lucky 8 is for when you want to get loud. Blaring music and a perpetual buzz create a sort of party-like atmosphere. If you’re looking to get tipsy over some cheap cocktails, indulge in some fried food, and make a few inappropriate jokes on the way, this is gonna be your best bet.
